EDC 102 - Introduction to American Education

Agenda: Class 3: : Helpful Online Tools

Remember to bring your Laptop to class today if possible!

Due Today:
- Access course website at www.uriteacherknowledge.wikispaces.com
- Watch video "What's Wiki?" by clicking on the link in the site's sidebar.
- Complete EDC 102 Student Questionnaire by following link on EDC 102 Home page. (Don't forget to click on "submit" at the bottom of the form.)
- Read Ch 1 in text. Take reading quiz. See link below or read syllabus to locate quiz.

Objectives/Learning Goals

Learn to use some online tools that might come in handy in this class and others:
- Zotero - A bibliography manager that works in the Firefox browser.
- Google Docs - an online word processor that allows simultaneous editing.
- Wikispaces - a wiki that allows authors to create media rich wiki pages.
- Engrade - an online gradebook that you can use to monitor your progress in this class.

Instructional Activities

Work in stations to explore some online tools.
Complete an "Online Safari Challenge" using your new computer and collaboration skills.

Homework

Due Wednesday:
- Read pp. 1-40 of Savage Inequalities
- Email Mr. F your "Online Safari Challenge" document
